The Kurukulee Centre holds profound significance within the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), envisioned as a spiritual and cultural anchor where ancient wisdom meets contemporary aspirations. It will embody Bhutan’s timeless values of mindfulness, healing, and compassion, while offering a place of retreat, learning, and collective reflection for people from around the world.

“Anchored by a central five-storey temple, the project’s heart is a grand open shrine hall on the ground floor dedicated to the principal statue of Jetsunma Kurukulle. This architectural core expands into a surrounding ‘Living Mandala’ campus, designed as a vibrant cultural hub complete with teaching pavilions, meditation halls, and traditional mani walls. Beyond its physical beauty, the Centre is envisioned as a nexus for global connectivity, offering a sanctuary where international practitioners can immerse themselves in authentic Vajrayana study and retreat.”

The concentric circles and intricate layers represent a spiritual journey from the outer, material world of daily concerns and ego-driven identity (samsara) to the inner core of enlightenment and unity. Each layer is a step in transcending limitations and connecting with deeper, universal truths. The geometric patterns within a mandala are considered sacred and inherently harmonious. These shapes help to organize chaos, promote mental clarity, and facilitate a “reorganization of perception” that dissolves the boundaries between individual consciousness and cosmic awareness.
The symmetry and balance in a mandala’s design mirror the natural order of the universe, helping to foster a sense of inner harmony and emotional balance within the viewer or creator.

The practical knowledge of breathing techniques gives you balance and wisdom.

The state of samadhi will help you experience deep inner peace as well as increase self-awareness.
