On October 3rd 2025, the sacred grounds received the blessings and gaze of HH Gangtey Rinpoche. Accompanied by GMC Governor Dasho Dr. Lotay Tshering, the visit marked a pivotal moment of grounding. This was more than a site inspection; it was a synchronization of intent, envisioning where this spiritual anchor will align with the land. The Centre stands as one of eight spiritual pillars approved by His Majesty The King of Bhutan, forming the metaphysical foundation upon which the world’s first Mindfulness City will grow.
A Sanctuary of Sacred Geometry
The vision for the Kurkulee Centre transcends traditional architecture. It is conceived as a multidimensional mandala—a physical manifestation of enlightened space. At its heart will soar a five-story temple, built in strict accordance with sacred geometry. The ground floor is destined to house the radiant presence of Jetsunma Kurukulle—the Goddess of Magnetizing Enlightened Activities. Rising above her, shrines dedicated to Guru Rinpoche and lineage masters will create a vertical axis of blessing, connecting the earth to the heavens.
Surrounding this core, the landscape itself will become a teacher. The plan includes meditation groves, mani walls that whisper prayers to the wind, and circumambulation paths designed to guide the feet and the mind into rhythm. It is a holistic environment where devotion, study, and transformation are woven into the very air.
The Magnetism of Wisdom
The The choice of Kurukulle as the central deity carries deep resonance for the future of GMC. Depicted in radiant red, she embodies the power of active compassion and the ability to transform attachment into pure wisdom. In the visionary landscape of GMC, she serves as the spiritual magnet—drawing in positive energy, favorable conditions, and the prosperity needed for the city to flourish, while ensuring that material progress never outweighs spiritual depth. Under the guidance of HH Gangtey Rinpoche, the Centre aspires to be a vibrant academy of the soul. It will be a place where the Dharma is not just preserved but lived—nurturing mindful leadership and inner resilience in a rapidly changing world.
Gratitude to His Majesty
As Rinpoche offered prayers of gratitude to His Majesty during the visit, the moment reflected a deep and quiet understanding: that when leadership flows from wisdom, and vision is guided by grace, we create a sanctuary for the human spirit. It stands as a testament that the most vital infrastructure a nation can cultivate is the awakened compassion of its people.
